Martha Meeks is the younger sister of film geek, Randy Meeks, one of the characters in Scream (1996) and Scream 2 (1997). She first appears in Scream 3 (2000). Her children become main characters in Scream 5 (2022), which she also briefly appears in.
She was close to survivors, Dewey Riley and Sidney Prescott. However, she is absent in Scream 4 (2011), suggesting she moved away for a time.
Biography[]
Scream 3[]
In Scream 3, Martha goes to a game show in Hollywood with her parents. She takes a last stop to visit Dewey Riley to deliver Randy's final tape, and fills somewhat of a void left by Randy for Dewey and Sidney after his murder in Scream 2.
She sneaks onto the set of the cancelled film, Stab 3: Return to Woodsboro amid the killing spree to deliver a videotape called "Scary Movies 101". Martha is immediately surrounded by the cops, such as Wallace, but yells "Don't shoot, I'm only 17!" They converse and she is shocked to see Sidney again, who became a recluse. The tape shows Randy, a final warning in case he did not survive the killings at Windsor College. He wears the same clothes seen in Scream 2 on the day after Maureen Evans and Phil Stevens' murders.
Sidney, Dewey and Gale thank her for having shown them the video after seeing it and say goodye to her. She then returns to Woodsboro after telling Dewey her wish for him to visit them soon.
21 Years of Peace[]
Martha graduated from Woodsboro High in the summer of 2000. She then became a young mother to twins at 21 years old sometime in late 2003. She moved away during the events of Scream 4 (2011).
Scream 5[]
She does, in fact, receive a visit from Dewey almost 22 years later. It is 25 years since her brother, Randy survived being shot by Billy at the Macher house. Martha is now the 39-year-old mother to fraternal twins, Chad and Mindy. Their close friend Tara is almost killed. Martha appears a little out of touch with the situation, and delivers snacks to the kids, saying her brother would be "so proud".
She assumes Dewey is still married to Gale, leading to an awkward, brief encounter before Chad says, "Okay mom, we're good". Then, Martha gives Chad a hawk-eyed gesture. Despite this, he later sneaks out for Amber's party at Stu's old house, which leads to both of her children being stabbed, just like her uncle. Despite this, both of her children survive their stabbing encounter.
Trivia[]
- She and her children left or were no longer living in Woodsboro sometime before and during Scream 4 (2011). But returned shortly or a few years after, which we know from the fact that Sam babysat the twins when she was a teenager.
- Her mother is mentioned in the second film.
- There was a few ideas brainstormed before the producers came up with the sister character to deliver a tape. Originally, it was just a messenger, and at one point, Karen Kolchak herself (mentioned in the video).
- Her appearance somewhat foreshadows Roman Bridger, as Martha was never mentioned before as Randy's sister, while the story hints towards Sidney having a secret half-sibling through Maureen's sexual assault at one of Milton's parties.
- Her second appearance occurs 22 years later, making her the character with the longest time-skip between their first and second on-screen appearance in two films.
- Second sequel character to return for another sequel after Judy Hicks.
